Somatic Experiencing (SE)
Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-based therapy that helps people heal from stress and trauma by focusing on physical sensations, rather than only thoughts or memories. It’s based on the idea that the body holds onto unresolved stress, and that healing happens by safely releasing it.
How It Works
When we go through overwhelming experiences, our nervous system can get “stuck” in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze. Somatic Experiencing helps your body slowly come out of these patterns. With the guidance of a therapist, you’ll learn to notice and track sensations in your body in a safe and manageable way.

What You Might Experience
Sessions are slow and supportive. You might be invited to notice things like tension, warmth, breath, or subtle shifts in your body. Rather than reliving difficult events, the focus is on helping your nervous system settle and regain a sense of balance.

Who It Helps
Somatic Experiencing can be helpful for:
-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Anxiety and chronic stress
-
Feeling “on edge” or shut down
-
Physical tension or unexplained symptoms

A Gentle Path to Healing
This approach is designed to feel safe and gradual. You stay in control throughout the process, and there is no pressure to revisit anything before you’re ready. Over time, many people feel more grounded, calm, and connected to themselves.
If you’re looking for a way to heal that includes both mind and body, Somatic Experiencing offers a compassionate and effective approach.
